Cell phones are tricky and always run out of battery at the most inopportune moments. If that is not the case for you, then you are one fortunate soul, although I still suggest investing in one when you know you will be out visiting all day. There weren't many places where I could charge my phone while on the road and I ended up stressing about my battery (especially since I used my phone for directions and to take pictures). 

You may think this obvious but forgetting my sunglasses is a mistake I have been guilty of making many times.

I am not someone who usually wears sunglasses, but those hot bright days in Dusseldorf made me wish I had my shades on. If you don't want to carry them on your head all day, just invest in a case which you can attach to your bag!

Absolute best thing I brought with me on the trip! The pics look great (even so that my friend exclaimed "wow you found so many people to take pictures of you").

It is convenient and small so it can easily be carried around in your pocket. Plus, it provides the opportunity to have your photo taken without having to ask all the passers-by to stop and take a picture of you.

So what are you waiting for? Grab that fab selfie stick of yours and go out show mom "here, look, this is where I have been!"

I bought a small bottle so I could keep it with me on the road and easily reapply. Let's just say I got a sunburn before realizing sunscreen is not "optional", especially when you don't really have your day all planned out and don't realize you will be walking in the scorching sun most of your time. A small bottle is easy to carry, and you can always fill it up before you go out.

Dirty hands, dirty shoes or little stains? Have no fear as long as you bring a moist towel with you (a.k.a. "wet wipes"). 

Wet wipes come in handy when you have a little stain on your shirt or your hands get a little sticky (apparently, I read they can even be used for underarm stains). Since you don't always have the luxury of a washroom around, bring some wet wipes with you.

Always a good thing to have around. You never know what icky situation you might get in!

Need I say more? A must-have to catch all the wonderful sights!

I bought mine at Air Canada for 15$ or so. If you have to choose between the money belt and pouch I suggest you buy the pouch so you don't have to "suspiciously lift up your shirt to grab something every time". A money pouch is great as you can wear it around your neck (so you always know where it is) and it's very handy when you have to take money out. Since it is worn around the neck, you can easily have control over it and always hid it under a shirt when you take a nap. Thumbs up!

Never underestimate the cold summer nights. I did bring a light jacket but my advice is to bring one good comfy sweater to block the light rain, the wind, and to wear on evening strolls. To tell you the truth, even in July I wore my zip-down jacket almost every day!

Yes, I did put wet tissues and tissues both on the list. Ever try wiping your nose with something wet and scented? Not really pleasant in my book.
