Speaking of the Great Outdoors, what would it be without the wildlife? Did you ever wake up in your campground to find you were surrounded by deer, lots of deer? It would be a hunter's delight, except it is on a preserve and no hunting is allowed.

This is only a small part of the herd. I counted over 40 deer. There were 4 large bucks and a younger one who had been testing his antlers and sadly broke off one of them. Poor thing, maybe next year they will grow larger and stronger. They looked fairly healthy and were not bothered by being close to so many campers.

And then this little fellow crossed the road in front of us. Not all armadillos sleep on the road with their feet in the air. Some actually make it across alive. This one did. He went scurrying off into the woods.
